　　为了达到准确、客观的目的，科技文体大多采用较正式的无人称句，在英语和汉 语中都是如此。而科技英语的句法特征则尤为突出鲜明。科技英语为了准确无误，全 面客观地传递信息、概念，使用了很多结构复杂的长句子以及大量的被动结构。为了 准确地翻译科技英语，必须对原文理解透彻，因此翻译公司译者必须熟悉语法知识，在翻译时 对原文句子进行准确的剖析。

　　一、被动结构与主动结构
　　1 ) No convincing signs of plant or animal life have been detected by instruments softland- ed on Mars.
　　在火星上软着陆的仪器目前还没有探测到任何令人信服的动植物生命迹象。
　　2)The most widely recognized species are the common and the bottle-nosed dolphins； both. . . are widely distributed in warm and temperate seas.

　　3)The electronic computer is chiefly characterized by its accurate and rapid computa?tion.
　　电子计算机的主要特点是计算准确而迅速。
　　4) The direction of the force that is exerted on a negative charge is opposite to that which is exerted on a positive charge.
　　作用于负电荷上的力的方向与作用于正电荷上的相反。
　　二、长句与短句
　　科技英语中大量使用结构复杂的长句，用以准确、规范地传达意图。在翻译的时 候应该理清句子成分，按照汉语的习惯，分割成若干相对较短的句子，以便清晰而有 条理地传达原意。例如：
　　5)He failed, but he did manage to get permission to write a book discussing both Aristo?telian and Copemican theories, on two conditions ： he would not take sides and would come to the conclusion that man could in any case not determine how the world worked because God could bring about the same effects in ways unimagined by man, who could not place restric?tions on God^ omnipotence.
