On April 16, 2026, the inaugural meeting of the Internationalization Special Working Group of the School of Information Science and Engineering was held in Meeting Room 335, Information Building, Jiulonghu Campus. Centered on the university’s overall deployment of the "Mingshi Strategy" and the construction tasks of the "Internationalization Year", members of the special working group discussed the school’s international development roadmap, clarified key tasks for the next stage, and offered suggestions to boost the school’s international progress.Vice Dean Jiang Zhihao briefed the group on the overall framework for the school’s internationalization initiatives. He stated that the school will comprehensively elevate the quality and efficiency of international work along three core lines: talent cultivation, scientific research, and faculty development.
For talent cultivation: The school will expand the scope of all-English taught courses and majors, attract more international students from developed countries, and develop well-established dual-degree programs as well as integrated exchange schemes covering undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels.
For scientific research: The school will build high-standard international cooperation platforms, set up overseas research institutes, strive to lead major international science projects, launch academic journals and host international conferences, and amplify the global impact of collaborative research outputs.
For faculty development: The school will scale up full-time recruitment of top overseas talents, flexibly engage world-leading scholars as advisors, raise the proportion of faculty holding international academic positions and elected as international society fellows, and continuously optimize the international composition of the teaching staff.
Focusing on core priorities for internationalization, group members put forward targeted proposals based on their research backgrounds and overseas collaboration experience. They shared actionable ideas on key areas including international project applications, international student training quality, all-English curriculum development, joint education models, global promotion outreach, career support for international students, visa coordination, summer school optimization, and English website upgrading.The meeting defined three key follow-up tasks for the special working group:
Collect extensive nominations of international experts to expand the school’s international advisory panel;
Establish connections with UK enterprises to accelerate the implementation of the "Excellent Engineers Overseas" cooperation program;
Encourage faculty to actively showcase the university’s and school’s international achievements during overseas exchanges and academic presentations to expand global influence.
Moving forward, the school will take the Internationalization Special Working Group as a core vehicle to integrate global resources and rally the whole school’s strengths. It will steadily advance internationalization work covering talent training, research collaboration and faculty recruitment & development, contributing to Southeast University’s goal of building a world-class university.
